WHERE ARE OUR UNIVERSITIES HEADING TO?
Recently the most important supporter of
Ahmadinejad, Ayatoullah Masbah complained that there is
nothing taught in Iranian universities other than
anti-Islamic issues! These statements of Ayatollah Masbah
did not surprise us because we heard his similar statements
about the students and curriculum in universities but this
time there is a major difference. This difference is that
the state governance and government implementations have
been carried out completely under his supervision for 3-4
years.
Minister of Education and Science and
officials of this Ministry consult him regarding the issues
within their scope of responsibilities and about all
projects. In these 3-4 years, “cleansing operations” were
carried out in the universities; and respectable,
experienced lecturers and scientists were dismissed due to
their contrary opinions about Masbah and his milieu.
Students who act against the ideas of Ayatollah and who work
in Islamic Committee of the universities were deprived of
higher education despite their higher grades. In this
situation one should ask him: “Is there anything left to be
changed in the universities?”
In the recent months the milieu of Ayatollah
Masbah were talking about the necessity of a cultural
revolution in the universities. These statements are in
parallel with Masbah ’s insistent declarations regarding
that anti-Islamic issues are being taught in the
universities but it is very clear that anti-Islamic classes
are not being held in our universities. On the other hand,
it is understood from his declarations that Iranian regime
could not reach its desired point in the universities up to
now. In other words, the major problem in our universities
is not the Islam religion but it is the failure of Ayatollah
Masbah and his supporters to disseminate their ideas and
point of view in a real sense.
