ARRESTS OF SOUTH AZERBAIJANIS CONTINUE
The Iranian regime continues to regularly
oppress the South Azerbaijanis.
Mohammad Reza’i Tabrizi known for his
social and cultural efforts to ensure the acknowledgement of
the Turkish identity and his daughter Lachin Reza’i were
taken under custody by the Tabriz unit of the Iranian
Intelligence Ministry on 10 December 2011.
Following the detainment procedure Lachin
Reza’i Tabrizi was taken to the Tabriz Unit of the
Intelligence Ministry where she suffered physical assault
and was temporarily released after being subject to a
four-hour interrogation while Mohammad Reza’i Tabrizi is
still kept in the Ministry’s Tabriz Unit.
Intelligence officers have seized the
passports, personal belongings of the father and daughter
together with Mohammad Reza’i Tabrizi’s novel written in
Azeri.
Zanjani Mehrdad Karimi studying at the
Electrical Engineering Department of Tabriz University was
also detained illegally at the university campus by the
Intelligence Ministry teams.
Twenty-five South Azerbaijanis who wanted
to commemorate the establishment of South Azerbaijan
National Government founded under the leadership of Sayed
Jafar Pishavari in 1945 on 21st Azeri day were sentenced to
imprisonment and lashes by the Tabriz Revolutionary Court.
Mashud Jalilzadeh, Mohsen Golestani, Sayed Ibrahimzadeh,
Mohammad Ahmadi, Parwiz Saidiyan, Kayumars Ghurbani Niknam,
Shahriyar Qabiri Iskenderi, Behnam Fathi, Orman Zahida
Tabrizi, Ali Shahid, Hamid Endaz, Najaf Hendani, Siyamekh
Qandrudi, Qave Rustempur, Mahdi Mohammadipour, Behnam
Khudayari, Taghi Movlayi, Hamid Shahbazi, Vahid Ghulampour
Gulzari, Ali Mohammedi Agbulagh, Adil Danapour, Amir Buzeri,
Bahnam Farawani, Alireza Neghshi ve Allahwardi Ghorbani were
sentenced to imprisonment and lashes.
