ARMENIANS MIGRATE FROM IRAN
In the
recent period, the Armenians living in Iran felt uneasy
regarding the rumors and indications that Israel, possessing
the USA missiles are getting prepared to hit Iran. It was
mentioned that the Armenians in Iran believing “the USA in
the Iraqi swamp would tolerate a possible Israeli attack”
made initiatives to migrate to Australia, France and Italy.
It was learned that the migration procedures are carried out
by a Jewish company called “Ayaz” based in Tehran. The
Armenians, who are willing to leave the country, get Baptize
Certificate from the Tehran Saint Cerqis Church and those
who cannot get this certificate are not allowed to leave
Iran.
It is
mentioned that the Iranian Government was displeased with
the migration decision of the Armenians and tried to impede
the implementation of the decision. In this framework, by a
decision made in November, out of one billiard Tumans, which
was to be given to the minorities as financial assistance,
the Iranian Government allocated 800 million Tumans to the
Armenian community. It was mentioned that Gerork Vardan, who
represents the Armenian community at the Iranian parliament,
proposed to immediately take the allocated fund and give to,
the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun), the
most active Armenian community in the country, however, the
members of the other Armenian groups, “the Hunchak” and
“Ramkavar Azatakan” severely rejected the proposal. It was
mentioned that severe quarrels and even fistfights took
place between the members of both groups.
Political
observers emphasize that the fact that some Israeli and
American authorities mentioned about the potential attack
against Iran has a share in migration decision of the
Armenians living in Iran. It is known that the Israeli Prime
Minister Ehud Olmert mentioned that Israel perceives Iran’s
obtaining nuclear bomb as a direct threat to its existence
and that Israel cannot put up with such a threat. Israeli
strategist Zeev Schill mentioned his concern regarding the
increase in the number of the politicians dealing with the
Iranian nuclear file.
