SECRET
DOCUMETS OF REFORMIST BARAN FOUNDATION STOLEN
On March
21, 2007, during the board meeting of the Baran Foundation
(Bounyade Azadi Rust and Abadani Iran /Foundation for Iran’s
Development and Prosperity) which was established last
August by former President of Iran Mohammad Khatemi, Morteza
Haji was elected president, a name who also took active part
in reformist front coordination,
According
to reports, the Baran Foundation, whose mission is to
develop strategies in the fields of economical progress and
productivity of commercial enterprises, is receiving a great
deal of financial aid from the reformist public due to its
financial restraints. As it is known, its Tehran office was
robbed on February 11, the anniversary of the Islamic
revolution. Besides secret documents and material of
Khatemi’s group, some money was stolen in the incident.
It has been
reported that the prevailing belief in Iran is that the
Baran Foundation’s office was robbed by members of the
Ministry of Intelligence to collect documents and
information and with the knowledge of Spiritual Leader
Khamanei and President Ahmadinejad, while Iran’s political
milieus believe Intelligence Minister Gholamhossein Mohseni
Ejei might have instructed a group called Lord of the Age
(Imame Zaman) or Mehdi Army, an illegal formation within
Basij structure, and find the act meaningful to be carried
out on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
