TORTURES
AND PRESSURES AGAINST TURKMEN INTELLECTUAL ABDOL RAHMAN
DIEJI
Abdol
Rahman Dieji, the owner and Managing Director of the Turkmen
Sahra Newspaper, was badly beaten by unidentified
individuals in Gorgan on June 3, 2007, Sunday. The attackers
failed to reach their aim of silencing the Turkmen and Dieji
survived this assault. The identities of the persons that
attacked the Director of the Sahra Newspaper are actually
known. The Intelligence and Security officials of the
Ahmadinejad regime that could not even tolerate the Sahra
Newspaper which is the voice of Turkmen have kept the
directors of the Sahra Newspaper under pressure for years.
The Managing Director of Sahra, who has been to the courts
of the regime several times for expressing the requests of
the Turkmen, was already subject to various torments and
intimidations.
There is no
doubt that Abdol Rahman Dieji, the person who published the
first officially permitted newspaper of Turkmen Sahra and
the Golestan Region, was beaten up by the members of the
Ministry of Intelligence and the Security forces in broad
daylight in the city center. The perpetrators then left the
place easily.
It is
reported that by brutally beating the managing director of
the Sahra Newspaper, the regime tried to give the Turkmen
people the following message: “All legal activities of the
Turkmen people will be met by violence, intimidation,
beating and even murder.” However, this publication, which
is the only legal newspaper of the 2.5 million Turkmen, is
trying to express the requests of the Turkmen by obeying the
rules of the Ahmadinejad Leadership. Nevertheless, aiming to
suppress the wave of freedom of the nations by means of such
pressures and intimidation, the regime plans to control the
righteous demands of nations.

All the
nations living in our country, us Southern Azerbaijanis in
particular, condemn the Ahmadinejad Regime that cannot even
tolerate the single newspaper of the Turkmen. All Southern
Azerbaijanis now unite in the personality of Abdol Rahman
Dieji, the Turkmen writer and intellectual, reacting against
the practices of the regime against the activists of other
nations as well.
One should
remember that such inhumane acts against people who have
been trying to express their righteous demands through
democratic means have further defamed this regime.
