EVERYTHING IS FOR WOMEN IN IRAN!!
Iranian
women encounter a new and interesting practice everyday. The
latest example of these practices, most of which are
tragicomic, has been the ban imposed on sunbathing and
tanning in solariums, on the pretext that they are hazardous
to health! For this reason, it is reported that the import
of chaises longues and solarium equipment has been suspended
and the solarium equipment in related businesses will be
confiscated.
On the
other hand, it is also stated a park, surrounded by high
walls and having only female employees, has been opened in
Tehran recently which will only be available for women. The
women who will attend the mentioned park, known as “Mothers’
Paradise”, will be able to hang around and play sports
without being have to cover up.
Some of the
interesting practices against women in Iran in recent years
have been internet cafes special to women, police stations
for women where only female police officers work, and the
practice of showing yellow and red cards to women who do not
dress themselves according to religious rules in certain
restaurants. Furthermore, magazines and newspapers for women
are not permitted and the existing ones are closed down
under certain pretexts.
Iran, being
the first country which banned the use of scarves in 1930s,
now behaves picky when it comes to the means of veiling. The
government, which intensifies its controls every year with
the coming of spring, detains or arrests several women who
are allegedly not dressed properly.
