LEBANON…BETWEEN BEING THE TOOL OF SYRIA AND DESTRUCTION OF ZIONISM

Mohammad AL-SEYYID

Israel, following the kidnap of its two soldiers and killing of its eight soldiers by the Hezbollah militants, entered Lebanon and started an operation on July 12 2006. Israel applies psychological warfare tactics to collapse morale of the people and the Hezbollah militants. It is found out that in this framework, Israeli army, which besieged the country from air and sea, dropped numerous leaflets. On July 17 the Al-Jazeera TV announced that it was discovered that the airplane which was stated to be shot down by a Hezbollah missile at the eastern part of Beirut, was not an airplane but a balloon probably to distribute leaflets.

It was stated that the initial leaflets dropped by the warplanes at he north of the Gaza Strip were warning against “the people should stay in their homes and not resist.” However, the recent leaflets also bear cartoons and photos showing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah as entrapped and in placed in a cage. The leaflets also emphasize that “Nasrallah is the cause of the war and the Lebanese people should voice their reaction against Nasrallah.”

On the other hand, all the cellular phone subscribers registered in the Lebanese cellular phone networks receive SMS messages, the originator of which cannot be understood, humiliating Nasrallah and his supporters in Lebanon and exaggerating the power of Israel.

Lebanon, which became a stage for the Palestinian issue between Israel and Syria, is the most “chaotic” country in the Middle East, one of the most “chaotic” geographies on the world. During the last 30 years Lebanon, a small country of 10.000 square kilometers where 3,8 million people from 18 different religious and ethnic groups inhabit, suffered a long lasting civil war, two Israeli and one Syrian occupation.
