THE DISEASE OF THE
AHMEDINEJAD’S ADMINISTRATION: “LOGOPHOBIA”…
The PHOBIA
that is defined in the medical terminology as “fear of an
event or an object not to be feared in reality” has turned
into a state tradition today in Iran. The decision makers
who are currently ruling our country are behaving like
people with phobias and take severe measures against any
person or group creating worry for them that can be defined
as irrational.
While the
psychologists mention that ‘the individuals having phobias
can not prevent this although they know that their fears are
extreme or meaningless and they can not prevent them
logically’, the sociologists monitoring the general
situation of our country note that the Iranian
Administrators have turned their personal fears and worries
“into state policies” and especially, the practices that
they put into practice following the cartoon crisis in May
and August are a reflection of the psychological problems of
the administrators…
Within the
security measures taken by the Iranian Intelligence Ministry
that stepped up the security measures in South Azerbaijan
following the demonstrations occurred in May-August, the
cellular and residential phones are monitored, the computers
and the books are seized in house raids, the persons that
are in position of leaders are forced to leave the places
that they are staying through various pressures. Also, many
people are detained prior to the important dates for the
South Azerbaijanis and they are prevented from attending the
celebrations and demonstrations. According to the experts,
when we have a look at the events that can be defined as an
illness called “logophobia”, in other words, fear of certain
words; the following have been noted:
The Iranian
administration ended the cultural activities of the
associations and institutions that are of South Azerbaijani
origin in Merend city of Zenjan Province in the last days of
July, closed down all the classes instructed in the
Azerbaijani Turkish, banned the meetings of poetry and
literature held at homes in Turkish and put the Turkish
teachers under heavy pressure.
The
Administration which closed down “the Association of Folk
Singers” active to maintain and spread their real culture by
gathering periodically the poets who sing through poetry
involving traditional motives from the nearby provinces and
repressed the artistic activity carried out innocently, had
the Ministry of Culture prepared a report in which it
declared that some poets propagandized the Turkish
nationalism by using the words “Turk” , “Azeri” , “Babek”
and Koroglu” and banned the people from participating in
activities such as meetings/activities that are of similar
nature.
The same
administrators had the South Azerbaijanis working in the
state institutions retire earlier than the required time on
the grounds that “they participated in the demonstrations”
following the cartoon crisis. Within this framework, almost
50 South Azerbaijanis including Bagri the Engineer working
as the Border Police and Akbar Recebi, Behruz Seferi the
teacher and Sulduz officer Kerim Tebrizli were “sent home.”.
In our
country, some names were forbidden to be given to the newly
born babies through a directive issued in July. These names
include those of the former Turkish commanders and rulers as
well as the name “Babek”. In order to prevent the South
Azerbaijanis from giving their children Turkish names, the
administration ask them to choose a name from a booklet
containing the Persian names only in the Registration Office
of Persons during the process of issuing birth certificates;
otherwise, they state that no birth certificate will be
issued.
The Iranian
Administrators has forbidden since September the sale of the
t-shirts having the motives of Babek Castle and wolf that
are of symbolic significance for us who live in places where
the South Azerbaijanis reside. The Iranian Administrators
detained out brother called Mensur Ciddi who took the title
“veteran” following the Iran-Iraq War in mid-October due to
the fact that he was in preparation of writing a book
regarding the importance of our national hero Babek
Horremdin and Bazz Castle for the history of South
Azerbaijan. In the raid carried out against his house in
Ardebil by the Iranian Security Forces, his computer, CD and
books were seized.
Analyzing
this and the other similar incidents as a whole, the
scientists emphasize that the phobias that may last for a
lifetime unless they are treated and affect the lives of
many persons negatively are about to turn into “a tradition
of state in Iran”. The experts also note that the situation
which Ahmedinejad Administrators have phobias against has
materialized as the fear of the South Azerbaijanis and
unless this process that is defined as “Logophobia” is
prevented, some new concepts such as “Babekophobia”,
“Settarophobia” may be added to the literature…
