PLAGUE
EPIDEMIC IN IRAN
The people
of Iran are in a difficult situation due to the plague
outbreak which started in the beginning of August and is
increasingly expanding throughout the country. For this
reason, the Ministry of Health is warning people to avoid
the plague danger in relation to the cases in summer 2007.
Officials state that this disease was carried from the
eastern and southeastern neighbors of Iran , from
Afghanistan and Pakistan .
Contrary to
the official statements, the numbers of those who have died
from plague throughout the country are more than 10. Only in
the month of August, 73 people in total caught plague in the
cities of Tahran , Ghom and Hormozgan province. It is also
seen in Bane and Marivan and lastly it is seen in 3
villagers in Sanandaj. There is information indicating that
this disease is expanding through Soleymaniyah in Iraq .
Vice
Minister of Health, Hasan Amami Razavi stated that there are
110 plague cases throughout the country now, this disease
has been seen in summer for the last 40 years in various
regions of the country, lastly in 2006-2007 24 people caught
this disease and in 2007-2008 57 people caught this disease.
The experts
told that, the ones who are taken under treatment caught
bubonic plague which is the most common form of this
disease. In the meantime it is expected that, this matter
will be taken to the Parliament and the government will
prepare a prevention plan as soon as possible.
