A PSYCHOLOGY INSTITUTE OPENED IN TABRIZ
The opening ceremony of the “Psychology
Institute” that will work in coordination with the Tabriz
University was held in Tabriz on March 13, 2007.
Participating in the ceremony, Ayatollah Mohsen Muchtahid
Shabustari, the Eastern Azerbaijan Representative of the
Spiritual Leader and the Friday Imam of Tabriz, delivered a
speech.
Psychology has a very important place in
society. The importance attached to psychology will prevent
the imbalances in society and social fluctuations. Western
societies are under the influence of the materialistic
philosophy and these people feel themselves in a moral
vacuum. In societies with abundant religious and moral
desires, the crime rate is relatively lower. The
psychological and spiritual dimensions of problems should be
attached importance to improve the spiritual wellbeing of
the society, emphasized Shabustari in his speech, according
to the provincial website of the Farsi News Agency on March
14, 2007.
The number of people living in urban areas
in Iran is 48% more than the global average. Thus, more
studies are necessary in Iran in regard with the mental
wellbeing of people, said Gulam Ali, a lecturer in the
University of Tehran, who participated in the opening
ceremony of the “Psychology Institute”.
