THE
RESEMBLANCE BETWEEN SAYYAD ZEYAALDDIN TABATABAEI AND
AHMADINEJAD

There is an
interesting resemblance in the near history of Iran. Is the
history repeating itself? You can probably recognize the
individuals in the two pictures you see above. Yes, the one
on the right hand side is our president Ahmadinejad and the
other one on the left hand side is Sayyad Zeya Tabatabaei
who acted as the prime minister for a short time during the
last term of the Qajars and who had been influential in our
history as the “Black Government”.
Sayyad Zeya
, who is known for his loyalty to the United Kingdom and had
paved the way for the military coup d’etat in 1920 with the
support of Iron Side, the commander of the British forces in
the north of Iran, filled the seat of the prime minister
right after the coup and blemished our history with his
practices.
Today,
according to the official statements, 20 % of the Iranian
population, i.e. almost 15 million people (independent
observers put this figure as fifty percent) are living below
the poverty line. Iran currently sells about 5 million
barrels of crude oil and significant amounts of natural gas
a day. As you know, oil prices increase in a record-breaking
manner and it seems likely that these prices will exceed 130
dollars soon. So, where do all these huge amounts of oil
revenues go!? Is the Ahmadinejad government, which cheated
people saying that “it would bring the oil revenues to us
and would be a compassionate (!) government” and came to
power, dragging the country to the edge?
Ahmadinejad, who continuously causes political tension with
his threatening and bloody statements and thus contributes
to the increase in oil prices, once again chose the way of
“cheating people” in order to cover up his inefficiency in
the state administration. In his speeches in the city of
Qom, Ahmadinejad claimed that the country was ruled by “Imam
Zaman (Mahdi)”. He expressed that the real reason for the
USA and its supporters to be in Iraq was not “oil and the
interests of the country” but “the concern about the likely
emergence of Imam Zaman soon”! When we look at various
problems such as the unbelievable increase in the prices of
houses, lands, rice, fuel, etc., the drug addiction of our
young people, the increase in unemployment, and our import
of fuel and use of it at a high price although we are a
country rich of oil, we see that “Imam Zaman” has not been
successful in managing the country at all! Unfortunately,
Ahmadinejad and others this time decided to exploit our
religious beliefs to cheat us. Meanwhile, let’s look at the
pictures above once again. They look so much alike, don’t
they? This state ruled by Ahmadinejad will be called the
“Black State” in Iran’s history and one day, the secret
powers it is connected with will have a place in our
history…
