TABRIZ, A PIONEER CITY
Tabriz
is South Azerbaijan’s or to put it more correctly, Azerbaijan homeland’s largest
city. Tabriz, which has always been affiliated with heroisms, intellectuals and
artists, has a very old and deep history. Located at the foot of the Aynali
Mountain, Tabriz was the capital of the Safavi Empire during the reign of Shah
Ismail Xatai. In the following periods, Tabriz became the most favorite city of
the ruling nations to such an extent that it became the residence of Valiahdin
(Shahzade) during the time of the Qajar Kingdom.

South Azerbaijan
His full name is
"Seyyed Mohammed Hosseyn Behjet Tabrizi". He is called as “Sayyad”, because his
race comes from the prophet muhammad. Mohammed hosseyn was his first name while
behjet tabrizi is his surname, and although behjet is his nickname. He is also
known and called as shahryar, which is his last nickname, in his hometown and in
the world.

In recent period, the Iranian security
forces have increased their controls to detect the moral
faults in the streets. It is stated that many women are
harshly warned because of not getting dressed according to
the Islamic rules and of making up and those raising their
objection are brought to the police stations. It is also
indicated that the patrols conducting such controls in the
cities and named as “Mobaraze ba Mafasade Ajtemaye”
(Struggle with Social Corruption) are renamed as “Amneete
Akhlagh” (Moral Security) with the beginning of new Iranian
year.

Since the
ancient times, several views have been put forward on the position of Azerbaijan,
the Turkish homeland that constitutes a bridge between the east and the west. In
ancient times, the northwestern provinces of Medya (the land of the Meds), at
times Arran and Sirvan, and the Caucasian Azerbaijan after the foundation of the
Republic of Azerbaijan (May 28, 1918) have been stated as Azerbaijan
geographically. Consisting of Tabriz and its vicinity until the 20th Century,
Northwestern Iran was known as Azerbaijan; however after the foundation of the
Republic of Azerbaijan in Southeastern Caucasus, this region has been regarded
as Azerbaijan. Nevertheless, the linguistic, cultural and ethnographic values of
regional people, as well as historical facts, should be taken into consideration
while setting the borders of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is a 107.000 km square-region in the northwestern Iran, where
